A 27-year-old mom has become a second-time surrogate after falling in love with the feeling of being pregnant and has now vowed to help give other parents children.

After carrying her own son, Lando, now two, Savannah Morrell, from Maryland, felt an overwhelming desire to once again carry a child and decided she would lend out her womb to help those who couldn’t have their own kids.

Because she had a pregnancy free of complications, she felt as though it was her ‘calling’ to give someone else a child, so she became a surrogate.

After seeing the look on the first family’s face she was a surrogate for, she pushed herself to be pregnant for a third time to bring joy to another set of wonderful parents.

She welcomed her first surrogate child in October last year and is currently pregnant with her second surrogate baby who is due to arrive in June 2024.

She said: ‘I absolutely loved the whole experience of being pregnant with my son.

‘It’s so amazing to see your belly growing and to feel the baby moving around inside of you. It’s such an incredible feeling when you feel that little human doing little movements.

‘I love the thrill of seeing my body change each month, hearing their heartbeat at every scan, and seeing what they look like each time.’

She gushed over the feeling of pregnancy and noted that she ‘couldn’t wait’ to fall pregnant again.

Savannah added: ‘I fell in love with everything about it, and I had such a smooth ride with my pregnancy. I just knew I couldn’t wait to do it again.

‘I suddenly had this feeling that it was my calling to be able to give someone else, who was struggling, a baby.’

Savannah had heard of surrogacy but admitted she had never seriously thought about it until she met a woman who was struggling to have a baby.

During one of her appointments during her pregnancy with Lando, she met a woman who had been trying to have a baby for 15 years.

Savannah recalled how her heart broke when she heard this stranger lament about her struggles, adding that she could see the pain in her eyes as she fought back tears.

The 27-year-old noted that after having her baby, it dawned on her that she could help those struggling to conceive.

Three months after giving birth, she started looking into becoming a surrogate and found an agency. Within six months of applying, she was matched with her first set of parents.

Savannah says that she was so excited to begin the journey as soon as she had been matched with the couple.

Savannah, and her supportive husband, David, 41, underwent multiple screenings and tests before their transfer day.

However, when she discovered she was pregnant, Savannah was over the moon and loved sharing each milestone with the couple she was having a baby for.

She said: ‘I knew that I was carrying a baby that wasn’t mine, so it was never weird or a struggle.

‘The excitement that the couple would express throughout the pregnancy and how much they couldn’t wait to meet her was so special and made me so excited for them too.

‘I felt so glad I was able to do this for them. We built such a great relationship between us all too.’

Savannah noted that the look on the parent’s face when they saw their child for the first time was worth it all.

She explained:  ‘I gave birth to their baby in October last year. One of the dads actually watched her come out.

‘They were both sobbing as soon as they saw her. There was such an overwhelming rush of emotion in the room.

‘To see them smiling, crying, holding her little hands and having skin-to-skin with her was better than I ever could have imagined.

‘I just kept thinking that they were finally experiencing what my husband and I got to experience when we had our son.’

After her first surrogacy journey, Savannah decided that she wanted to do it all over again.

She was matched with her second set of intended parents in January.

After welcoming her own son two years ago and then giving birth to her first surrogate baby in October, Savannah is so excited to be pregnant for a third time and to welcome her second surrogate baby to the world in June 2024.

Savannah said: ‘The first time went so amazingly, I knew I wanted to do it again. I couldn’t have done it without the unwavering support from my husband too.

‘He has been there through every step of the way with me. Even when I first told him that I waned to become a surrogate, he never questioned it, he was just always right behind me to support me.

‘My parents have also been so supportive. It’s so important to have a strong system of love and support around you when you’re a surrogate.

‘David even had to undergo blood tests and psychiatric assessments too so that I could do this.’

‘My second surrogate pregnancy has been just as wonderful so far. I couldn’t have picked better intended fathers for these journeys. They’re all amazing,’ she said.

Savannah explained: ‘I feel like I have gained new families through these journeys. They are part of my family now, and my family is part of their families. I regularly speak and FaceTime with the family from my first surrogacy journey.

‘They send me pictures and updates all the time, and I plan to have the same relationship with the second family too. It’s a beautiful thing.’
