A teenage motorcyclist is fighting for life in hospital and a driver has been charged with drink driving following a horror crash.

The learner rider, 16, was travelling on his motorcycle between Burrendong Way and Matthews Avenue at Orange, in the Central Tablelands of NSW, at 9pm on Sunday.

Police allege the motorcyclist was then struck by a Holden Commodore.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and paramedics treated the teen for multiple leg injuries, including fractures.

He was then flown to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.

The 53-year-old driver and sole occupant of the other vehicle was uninjured.

He allegedly returned a positive result on a roadside breath test.

Police arrested the man, who was taken to Orange Police Station where a further breath analysis was conducted.

It is alleged he returned a BAC reading of 0.124.

The man has been charged with mid-range prescribed concentration of alcohol (PCA) and is due to appear in Orange Local Court on April 6.

His licence has been confiscated and inquiries into the incident are continuing.
