Newly-crowned UFC champion Sean O’Malley has controversially suggested he is allowed to cheat on his wife because he ‘pays for everything’.

O’Malley justified the hype surrounding his name by capturing the UFC bantamweight title last weekend, after stopping Alijamain Sterling with a brutal shot just two rounds into Saturday’s main event at UFC 292.

The Phoenix fighter put Sterling down with an overhand right early in the second, before following him with ground and pound until referee Marc Goddard stopped the fight 51 seconds into the round.

It was a night to savor for O’Malley, who was competing in a five-round contest for the very first time at the TD Garden.

And celebrating in the Octagon with him after the victory was wife Danya Gonzalez, with whom he shares a three-year-old daughter.

When discussing his relationship with Danya on Bradley Martyn’s ‘Raw Talk’ podcast, O’Malley sparked controversy by claiming he can cheat on his wife given he funds their lifestyle.

After stressing that he would not be happy for Danya to do the same to him, O’Malley told Martyn: ‘I’m a king, I pay for everything.

‘I treat Danya like a queen. If I get a little p**s on the side, what does that have to do with anything?

‘I have testosterone running through my veins; it’s simple.’

Fans were quick to hit out at O’Malley over his stance, with one replying to a post containing his comments: ‘What a joke!’

A second put: ‘That’s disgusting.’

Another put: ‘That’s so low of him.. Why say this in public??’

‘Yooo That’s crazy wtf,’ said a fourth.

While one posted: ‘Lmao that’s not a man that’s a boy’.

O’Malley first met Gonzalez long before his rise to fame in the UFC, with the couple having their first child during the Covid-19 lockdown back in 2020.

He has previously spoken out on their ‘open’ relationship, denying the possibility of spending the rest of his life with only one partner.

The MMA star said on the Full Send podcast last year: ‘Everyone’s definition of an open relationship is different. I like to think of ours as just an open-minded relationship where we don’t own each other.

‘I don’t own her, and she doesn’t own me. When I first met Danya, I told her, “I don’t know why anyone would f*** the same chick for the rest of their life, I can’t do that.” So she knew she wasn’t in love with a phoney me.

‘We’ve had some dope threesomes. Every relationship should be okay with it, that just needs to happen.’
