‘I’d have said no in the past. When it came forward this time, I jumped at the chance and I’m thoroughly enjoying it.

Ricky went on: ‘When people see me doing positive things like this, because I’m an ambassador for mental health, it’s inspiring a lot of people’.

He cheekily said of his chances in the competition: ‘I don’t think I’m in a position to win it but I think I’m in a good position that a lot of people will get a lot of laughs.

Ricky- who in 2010 confessed to a year-long addiction to cocaine – has been to rehab to deal with depression and kick alcohol and drug problems.

In a recent Sky Documentary his he spoke candidly about his mental health as well as his  ‘depression, addiction and shame’ that followed his defeats by Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

The film also revealed how Ricky’s estrangement from his family for nearly a decade and how the split from his coach pushed him to his absolute rock bottom and an attempted suicide.

It comes after Ricky reportedly split from his Playboy model girlfriend Chelsea Claire, 33.

He went public with their romance in October last year after sharing several loved-up photos of themselves on Instagram.
