Will Mellor has claimed intensive training sessions for Strictly Come Dancing have left him with painful injuries – including ‘purple feet’ and knees ‘held together with sticky tape’.

The Coronation Street star, 46, made the admission during an appearance on Friday’s The One Show alongside his dance partner Nancy Xu, 31.

Showing a video of the star holding a pack of frozen peas to his knees, host Alex Jones joked: ‘We’re all worried about your knees!’

He replied: ”My knees are bad but my feet are purple – I don’t think that’s normal.

‘I’m sat there with my feet – found my wife’s foot spa and I’ve got ice in too. Honestly, my knees are like a Blue Peter project.

‘I’ve got that much sticky tape on there, just holding it all together. It’s not for old people is it, this show. My body doesn’t know what’s going on.’

Will recently revealed he will ‘never’ sign up for another reality show following his current stint on Strictly.

He told The Sun: ‘This is it for me. If you’re going to do one do the biggest one and I’m glad I’ve learnt a skill every week.

‘I couldn’t sit on a show just waiting to be voted out, I’d rather at least learn a skill and put my hand to something and really get my teeth into it.

‘I’m enjoying every minute of it and I don’t want to just be in a popularity competition, this will be it for me, I think.’

Strictly will undergo a major schedule shake-up, with live shows airing on Friday and Sunday to avoid clashes with World Cup.

The sporting event is being held in winter this year for the first time ever, because of the intense summer heat in the Middle East.

To avoid all possible clashes between football matches and Strictly, there will now be live shows happening on the Friday and Sunday, instead of the usual Saturday.

The shows that this will affect are the quarter and semi-finals, which were supposed to be airing on the December 3 and December 10 respectively.

A Strictly spokesperson confirmed to MailOnline: ‘Strictly Come Dancing will continue to bring glitter, glamour and glorious dancing to homes across the nation throughout the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

‘The quarter final of Strictly Come Dancing will now air live on Friday 2nd December and the semi-final will now air live on Sunday 11th December on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.’

This would suggest that the final of the dancing programme will air on Saturday December 17.

The scheduling chaos has been caused by the World Cup being hosted by Qatar, a controversial decision that has prompted much backlash.

The moving of the tournament to the winter has affected the Premier League and Championship seasons.
