A first-grade teacher has gone above and beyond for her students by putting together an elaborate simulated trip to Mexico

In now viral footage on TikTok, Sonja White was seen creating faux passports, boarding passes and an entire air travel simulation for her classroom to bring awareness of Hispanic Heritage Month and improve their money-handling skills.

‘Come along with first grade to Mexico,’ White said in the video. ‘Here we’re taking passport pictures.

‘I’m going to laminate some boarding passes, and I’m going to laminate some sombreros and make them our placemats.’

White then sat at a desk outside the class as a TSA agent, ‘checked’ their passports to ‘make sure they are who they say they are’ and allowed them entry to their flight.

For takeoff, she played a Youtube video of a plane taking off from the projector at the front of the class while the kids fidgeted in their chairs.

While the aircraft was in the ‘air’, she acted as a flight attendant and started giving out chips and drinks to the passengers.

Once they ‘landed’ in Mexico, the students were given a paycheck for purchases they wanted to make at the gift shop.

The students were required to either pay in exact change or tell White how much change they were supposed to receive, working some math into this interactive experience.

Lastly, the ‘tourists’ dined in a Mexican ‘restaurant’ with one mom bringing enchiladas and rice with chips, salsa and tres leches cake for the kids to enjoy.

One user also said that White’s TikTok video needs to be shared on television for the world to see.

This is not the first time her creative teaching process has gone viral. In August, White made headlines when she shared her students’ job interviews for classroom jobs on the video-sharing app.

Kids showed up to explain why they might be best for jobs around the classroom, with one little boy even coming with a resume.
