Jorge Masvidal is on his way to Fight Island after he showed himself boarding the plane to the highly-anticipated UFC 251 in Abu Dhabi.

The welterweight was scrambled in as a late replacement for the main event against Kamaru Usman after Gilbert Burns tested positive for coronavirus, as he saved Dana White‘s show after swiftly agreeing a fight purse.

Masvidal was originally set to face Usman but negotiations broke down over pay disagreements – claiming the money he was initially offered was just half of what he earned to fight Nate Diaz.

The ‘Baddest Mother F*****’ champion got fans excited by posting a video of him setting off for the event, telling them to ‘come take this journey with me’.

He made his way up the steps of his private jet in a striking pink gown, wearing a cap on backwards and a face mask.

Before making his way inside, he turned around and saluted for the cameras.

The 35-year-old, who posted images of himself on Instagram ‘negotiating’ on the phone and taking a coronavirus test, has had a frosty relationship with Usman in the past. He said he was happy to face the ‘coward’ and wanted to ‘break his face’.

‘I’m happy, more than anything, because I get to break this guy’s face, then get paid for it,’ he told ESPN.

When asked why he disliked Usman so much, he added: ‘Have you not seen him speak, how he speaks about everybody?

‘Everything’s just negativity and downplaying people.

‘A wise man said this quote to me, and he broke it down in a much better way than I can break it down, but listen: [Some people say] “I’m going to dim your light to make mine brighter”. No, I’m just going to make my light as bright as I can.

‘[Usman has] constantly been throwing disses at me for a while. I just don’t believe anything he says. I know the coward that he is.’
