The outing came just months after the talented actor addressed having tension with Julia Roberts on set nearly 30 years ago.

The two thespians were rumored to have not gotten along while shooting the film I Love Trouble (1994), resulting in some behind-the-scenes drama.

The two lead actors had completed about half of the romantic-comedy crime film, directed by Charles Shyer, when Roberts described Nolte as ‘completely disgusting’ during an interview with The New York Times in December 1993.

In I Love Trouble, the two actors play Sabrina Peterson and Peter Brackett, rival newspaper reporters in Chicago. Sabrina is young and ambitious, while Peter is a fading star who just published his first novel.

They reluctantly join forces to investigate a train derailment, and in the process argue over almost everything but eventually discover a conspiracy involving genetically altered milk.

‘From the moment I met him we sort of gave each other a hard time, and naturally we get on each other’s nerves,’ Roberts, 55, shared at the time, when asked about Nolte’s reputation for being crude on a set.

She added, ‘[While he can be] completely charming and very nice, he’s also completely disgusting. He’s going to hate me for saying this, but he seems to go out of his way to repel people. He’s a kick.’

After learning of his co-star’s quotes, Nolte shot back at the Pretty Woman actress during an interview with the LA Times: ‘It’s not nice to call someone “disgusting.”‘

He then followed up, ‘But she’s not a nice person. Everyone knows that.’

Fast forward some 29 years, and the three-time Oscar-nominated actor was reminded of his alleged behind-the-scene rows with Roberts while promoting his new film Rittenhouse Square.

When asked if he had ever reached out to Roberts after the production wrapped, Nolte maintained that there’s no feud between the two stars in the interview from November.

‘No, I haven’t,’ he said in response to whether he ever extended an olive branch, adding, ‘Though it’s buried.’

Blame game: When elaborating about their reported row in 1993, Nolte took some responsibility: 'I mean, it was absurd what we went through. It was partly my fault and a little bit of hers. Julia got married at the beginning of that film and it was one of those things where I just approached it all wrong'

At the time of the film, Roberts had just married musician Lyle Lovett, which ultimately ended in divorce in 1995.

The leading lady has since found love again when she met cameraman Danny Moder on the set of The Mexican in 2000. They ended up tying-the-knot in July 2002, and are now the proud parents of three children: 17-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus and 15-year-old Henry.
