A third convoy of aid trucks has entered Gaza through the Rafah crossing from Egypt.

Humanitarian agencies welcomed supplies of food, water and medicines but have warned they are too limited to help the huge numbers of Palestinians needing assistance.

The development came as an Israel Defence Forces soldier was killed by Hamas during raids into Gaza.

Corporal Tamir Barak, 19, was on a night-time mission to kill terrorists and locate hostages.

It is now believed 222 Israelis and foreign nationals were snatched during the October 7 raid.

The UN said about 1.4million people had been internally displaced within Gaza – more than half the population – and that many had sought refuge in overcrowded emergency shelters.

Limited supplies of humanitarian aid have been getting through since the weekend, but fuel, which hospitals need for generators that power life support machines and incubators, has been blocked.

Israel released satellite imagery which it said showed Hamas had positioned its rocket launchers close to hospitals, schools and mosques. It claims it is evidence that Hamas is using Palestinians as human shields.

Describing details of its operation in Gaza, the IDF said tanks and infantry carried out attacks on ‘squads of terrorists’, while airstrikes hit 320 targets in 24 hours, which it said was its ‘heaviest’ round bombing since the latest conflict began.

Palestinian authorities said the latest airstrikes had killed 436 people, including 182 children. They also claimed most of the deaths were in southern Gaza, where civilians were told to evacuate by Israel.

Israel said more than 200,000 of its population have been internally displaced, following orders to evacuate areas close to its borders with Gaza and Lebanon.
