Ryan Thomas skated to victory and was crowned Dancing On Ice‘s 2024 winner alongside pro partner Amani Fancy during Sunday’s action packed live final. 

The former Corrie star, 39, beat Made In Chelsea‘s Miles Nazaire and partner Vanessa Bauer, after Adele Roberts finished in third place and Greg Rutherford was forced to quit hours before the show due to injury.

An emotional Ryan choked back tears as he raised the trophy as he paid tribute to his partner saying: ‘I’m just so happy for Amani!’. 

Before turning to the camera and exclaiming: ‘Greg [Rutherford] if your watching at home this trophy’s for you’.

Meanwhile Miles congratulated Ryan and Vanessa as pyrotechnics sparked and gold confetti fell from the ceiling. 

The two finalists battled it out as they performed the iconic Bolero – made famous by Torvill and Dean at the 1984 Winter Olympics.

An emotional Chris gushed over Miles and Vanessa’s interoperation’ of the famous routine and branded it wonderful, saying the reality star had ‘atoned’ for his fall during his previous routine. 

Meanwhile Ryan’s rendition was equally as impressive with Jayne complimenting his ‘seamless skating’.

While Chris told the former soap star: ‘Tonight is your night!’.  

After coming in third, host Holly told the emotional DJ: ‘You’ve been doing this with more challenges than most, but you have inspired so many in the stoma community’.

Adele, who has recently recovered from bowel cancer and uses a Stoma bag, replied: ‘That’s our trophy for sure’ revealing how proud of proving disabled people can achieve their dreams.

The show opened with an incredible performance from the professionals before Holly and co-host Stephen Mulhern explained the reason for Greg’s absence. 

Holly said: ‘Now you may have noticed, that Greg and [pro partner] Vanessa [James] weren’t part of our opening. Unfortunately Greg injured himself during rehearsals and won’t compete’. 

It was then revealed that judges Ashley Banjo, Motsi Mabuse, Christopher Dean and Jayne Torvill‘s points would only be guidance during he final show, and everything relied on viewers votes.

Phone lines opened and viewers would all perform before the third placed was announced, leaving two to battle it out in the iconic Bolero – made famous by Torvill and Dean at the 1984 Winter Olympics.

First up was Adele and her pro partner Mark Hanretty as they performed a Western themed routine to Beyonce‘s hit Texas Hold Em.

Decked out in a sparkly cowboy ensemble, the former BBC DJ oozed confidence on the ice and performed impressive flips which earned a full 40 out of 40 from the judges.

Ashley gushed saying how proud he was of Adele and loved ‘seeing how far she had come’ in the competition and how she’s outdid herself every week despite her lack of dance or perfomance background.

Meanwhile Chris said it had been wonderful seeing the star, who has recently recovered from bowel cancer, ‘discover herself’ over her time on the show. 

Motsi branded it an ‘absolute honour’ to witness DOI super fan Adele achieve her dream of appearing on the ITv show.

While Ashley said: ‘I am gutted, I really wanted to give you the 10 you deserve’.

And Jane commiserated:  ‘It was a fluke mistake, think about all the difficult was in there’.

An impressed Ashley enthused: ‘That caught me a little of guard, you picked the right moment to peak!’ saying Ryan had shown he had ‘fire in his belly’.

While Jane gushed: ‘Thats the best you’ve skated it!’.

Motsi also said: ‘ I’ve never seen you skate so fast’ and was full of compliments over his progression, and joked about his early routines laughing: ‘You fell twice, remember that?’.

After all three couples performed the former contestants all returned for one last dance with Amber Turner, Ricky Hatton, Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards, Lou Sanders , Ricky Norwood and Roxy Shadhi taking to the rink.

However, despite joining her fellow celebs earlier in the show, S Club’s Hannah Spearritt did not perform, following reports she wouldn’t appear on the final in any capacity. 

The singer, 42, was left heartbroken when she became just the second person to be eliminated from the show and was said to have decided not to return for the finale, the Mail revealed. 

With insider saying: ‘Naturally we’d love Hannah to be a part of Sunday’s final and skate alongside the other cast members of 2024 but as yet, have not received confirmation from Hannah or her reps that she will be taking part in the show,’

The show also played a tribute showing Greg’s highlights from the series with the Olympian revealing Dancing On Ice had been one of the highlights of his life.

An ITV spokesperson added in a statement to MailOnline: ‘Sadly Olympian Greg Rutherford MBE has had to withdraw from Dancing On Ice after sustaining an injury whilst in rehearsals for the final episode of the current series. 

‘Greg and Vanessa have been such a popular couple this series and have performed some truly memorable routines. 

‘We will be helping to support Greg and wish him well with his recovery. We also want to thank him for being such a treasured member of the Dancing on Ice family.’
