Suzanne Somers shared an update about her health to Instagram after her husband Alan Hamel, 87, broke the news that her cancer had returned.

The 76-year-old Three’s Company star said she was doing the best she could.

‘Since I have been taking time off from work, many of you have asked for more details about my health,’ she began her social media note.

Somers then shared what type of cancer she was battling earlier this year.

‘As you know, I had breast cancer two decades ago, and every now and then it pops up again, and I continue to bat it down,’ she said.

‘I have used the best alternative and conventional treatments to combat it. This is not new territory for me,’ added the author.

She then shared: ‘I know how to put on my battle gear and I’m a fighter.’

And she noted: ‘Alan has been by my side every step of the way. I can’t even explain how much he has done for me. If it’s even possible, we are even closer than ever.’

And she thanked her family.

‘My incredible family has been so supportive, and have helped so much by keeping the business running so you can still have access to all the wonderful products.

‘Thank you for the continued love and support. It’s only about who you love and who loves you – and I love you!’

Also on Monday she shared a statement.

‘I have been living with cancer since my 20’s. And every time that little f***** pops up, I continue to bat it back,’ said the blonde beauty whose career took off when she starred in American Graffiti.

‘I do my best not to let this insidious disease control me,’ read her statement, which was given to Entertainment Tonight.

She added Hamel and her kids have been by her side. ‘My cancer is a disease that affected my whole family and once it hit me in my 20’s, Alan and I got even closer and every moment of every day was precious.

‘We have not spent even one day apart in over 42 years. That’s the big upside of my cancer,’ she said.

‘My son refers to our relationship as functionally co-dependent. And my incredible family has been unbelievably supportive every step of the way.’

It has helped that she has been careful with her health.

‘My doctors said that if I didn’t lead a chemical free life, supported by bio- identical hormones, I would not likely be here today,’ she added. ‘I am so grateful to all my fans for all the loving wishes. That means so much to me. God Bless America.’

On Monday morning Alan broke the heartbreaking news. The movie producer said that Somers has been keeping a low profile these days because she has been busy fighting cancer.

‘She has now dealt with her cancer once again. On June 6, she got an all-clear, but cancer is tricky and we will now closely monitor everything going forward,’ he told Page Six.

Hamel then said: ‘All her doctors said if she didn’t lead a chemical-free, organic life supported by bioidentical hormones, she wouldn’t be with us.’

Alan added: ‘Suzanne has lived with cancer all her life. In her 20s, she’d also dealt with two hyperplasia… which is the waiting room for cancer.’

In her thirties she battled skin cancer and in her fifties she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Though she is now cancer-free, Hamel said, ‘We decided to put work on the back burner for now and focus on her health.’

Hamel said, ‘Cancer is a huge epidemic. A few years ago, she dedicated one of her books to 20-plus people in our lives who died of cancer.’

In the past few months her family members have been stepping in to provide content for her social media pages as Suzanne recuperates.

Those women are Hamel’s daughter, Leslie Hamel, Suzanne’s daughter-in-law Caroline and Caroline’s daughters.

‘It’s turned into this really wonderful family affair,’ Hamel said.

Somers is known for maintaining her looks over the decades.

The Step By Step actress shared to Park magazine in 2022 that she eats only organic and also used fresh herbs that are like ‘medicine.’

‘It’s as though nature knew we’d be bombarded with free radicals and chemicals coming into our bodies all the time,’ she explained.

‘Bringing these antioxidants into your food helps eliminate free radicals.’

Somers likes fresh herbs and spices, like rosemary, thyme, tarragon, mint, turmeric, chives, cayenne, cumin and cinnamon.

And she said to ingest omega-3 oils like olive, flax, or coconut oil, to help keep cell membranes pliable, ‘allowing air and water to flow through and flush chemicals that enter the body from food or the environment.’

One of her favorite dishes is organic chicken with olive oil, rosemary and thyme. She adds sea salt. ‘When I eat this meal, I think it’s like healthy medicine I’m eating,’ she said. ‘It’s just so delicious.’

In her fifties she was diagnosed with breast cancer and that made her turn to clean eating. ‘I have to say that since I embraced health, I have never enjoyed life more,’ the northern California native shared.

‘I like the way I look. I like the way I feel. I like my energy. I have wisdom. I have perspective, and I can tell you that aging can be so incredible if you know how to approach it.’

The ThighMaster queen added it takes work.  ‘Aging is amazing,’ she said. ‘Aging is something you should aspire to and look forward to and want.’

But a healthy life is crucial. ‘It’s about health; about shifting your thinking and understanding what it is that’s making us sick and how we can combat it.’

And when women over 50 feel achy, Suzanne said listen and heal it.

‘We have to learn the language of our bodies: Itching, b***ing, lack of sleep, sweating, bloating, forgetfulness, being dried up; that’s the body talking.

‘Listen to your body. You can’t sleep unless you balance your hormones. When you don’t have hormones, you don’t care about sex.

‘I mean, you can do it, but you’d rather have a smoothie. I didn’t like being there. I used to really like it, and I had three miserable years.’
