A teenager who was diagnosed with cancer twice and just had a baby has died in a car crash with her two friends in Kansas City, Kansas.

Aria Mia Gonzalez, 17, was in the passenger’s seat of her friend’s car around 1am on October 1 when the car crashed into a tree.

Gonzalez’s friend Ashanti Hill, 19, was behind the wheel of a black Ford Taurus driving north on Emanual Cleaver II Boulevard when she lost control and slammed into the tree.

Her other friend Anaiyah Lewis, 19, was in the back seat at the time of the accident and the three girls died at the scene.

‘She was a beloved family member/friend who brought immense joy to those around her. Our real life warrior who overcame so many tough obstacles,’ said the GoFundMe page that her cousin Ari Ella created in honor of her.

At 13-years-old Gonzalez was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a rare cancer that occurs in the bones and soft tissues.

She beat the cancer and went into remission, when just four years later she found out it returned.

This time around she was in her third trimester with her daughter Se’vyn Sayori Gonzalez.

According to her Facebook, Gonzalez gave birth to her baby girl just two weeks from her second diagnosis on May 17, 2023.

‘She gave birth to her daughter and had to go through the challenges of being a young mom and battling cancer again,’ Ella said on the donation page.

The money raised in honor of Gonzalez is set to be used for memorial expenses and for her baby who is now four months old.

Ella said: ‘The funds raised will contribute to organizing a meaningful memorial to celebrate Mia’s life and provide a lasting tribute to the beautiful memories she created. Additionally, a portion of the funds will be allocated to support the ongoing well-being and upbringing of baby Se’vyn, ensuring she has the necessary resources for a stable and nurturing environment.’

Friends and family of Gonzalez have taken to social media to share their condolences and support for the young mom.

Kiyara Nichelle Johnson posted videos of homemade tacos she is selling to raise funds for all three of the victims families.

‘My heart goes out to these babies families, loved ones, children, s/o’s etc. the only way I can think to help is to continue praying & trying to support in any way possible,’ Johnson said in a Facebook post.

Kansas City Discover posted a touching tribute for Gonzalez, who was also known as Freeway Mueneyg on their Instagram.

‘Your generosity will make a significant impact on helping this family navigate through the difficult days ahead. Any contribution, no matter the size, is deeply appreciated and will go directly to supporting Mia’s family during this challenging time.

Thank you for your compassion, support, and keeping Mia and her family in your thoughts and prayers,’ Ella said.

Gonzalez was just shy of her 18th birthday, and it is unclear what exactly caused the car to crash into the tree.
