With Christmas just days away, a woman has revealed how she cooked a roast chicken to perfection in her air fryer.

The home cook marinated a whole chook in hot sauce, oregano, garlic, and black pepper for a few hours.

As it was her first time cooking roast chicken in an air fryer, she baked it at a low temperature of just 135 degrees Celsius (275F) for one-and-a-half hours.

‘Because it was my first try, I decided to do it in slow heat to make sure it was well cooked,’ she wrote in Air Fryer Tips and Recipes Facebook group.

‘I tied the wings and legs with butcher’s twine. I flipped the chicken after half way of the [cooking] time.’

Once her roast chicken was cooked, she said the meat was succulent.

‘It was juicy and delicious,’ she added.

Many were impressed with her creation, while others said they couldn’t believe her when she said it was roasted in an air fryer.

‘That looks absolutely delicious,’ one wrote, while another added ‘Beautiful colour. Mines didn’t look that good.’

‘Roast chook 1.4kg from Woolies that was seasoned already. I added garlic butter under the skin. Breast side down first 180C for 30 minutes.

Cooking pork belly in the oven can take at least two hours to get the crispy, crunchy crackling – but the air frying method takes just a fraction of the time to roast.

‘An hour later… crunchy soft and moist pork belly,’ one cook said, while another added: ‘I tried Pork Belly in the air fryer for the first time and WOW! I will never cook it any other way! Crispy crackling and tender, juicy meat.’

Pat pork belly dry with paper towel.

Preheat air fryer for five minutes on 200C. Rub oil and salt well into the scores of the pork then place in the air fryer, rind-side up on 200C for 25 minutes, then roast on 175C for a further 35 minutes until rind is crisp and crackling.

Rest for 10 minutes before carving.
