Baltimore Orioles pitcher Dean Kremer lined up for his first career postseason start in the MLB on Tuesday night while thinking of his family members back in Israel.

Israel is currently under attack after Hamas terrorists launched rocket strikes and invaded parts of the Middle East country, killing innocent civilians and kidnapping others.

Upwards of 1,900 people have been killed on both sides since Hamas staged a surprise attack on Israel that saw a fusillade of missiles launched into the country and gunmen invade its streets.

Amid the ongoing war in the country, Kremer – who was born in Stockton, California to Israeli parents – found out on Sunday that he was going to be the starting pitcher in Game 3 for the Orioles against the Texas Rangers two days later.

And with Baltimore in need of a victory to extend their season, the 27-year-old had no hesitations after speaking with manager Brandon Hyde.

‘I still want to pitch, but, I mean, it’s going to be in the back of my head,’ Kremer said on Monday.

Kremer obtains a dual citizenship, but most of his family live in Israel. Without going into any further details he confirmed his loved ones are safe right now.

Hyde also checked in with the right-hander on Monday.

‘Gave him my support and sympathies for him and his family that’s involved, and he seemed OK,’ the Orioles manager said. ‘Obviously, he’s very disturbed and there’s a lot of things going on. But I didn’t sense that it was going to affect [him].

‘I think he’s really looking forward to pitching tomorrow so I didn’t think it was going to affect him.’

Unfortunately for Kremer, his first postseason start ended in defeat as the Rangers completed a sweep of the Orioles to reach its first ALCS for 12 years.

Kremer, whose 1 2/3 innings marked his shortest outing all season, wore a Star of David necklace as usual, with thoughts of extended family members in Israel. His mother was at the game.
