Revealing they will be joining the daytime television programme, hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary shared their excitement.

Alison began: ‘Listen, we’re very excited, everyone’s buzzing here at This Morning because you’ve got some news, haven’t you?’

She continued: ‘You are going to be joining the team! We don’t know what you’re going to be doing.’

Dermot asked: ‘What are you going to be doing?’

Explaining that they will be doing some travel pieces for This Morning, Janey said: ‘We are doing some little travel bits for you, it’s lovely, it’s like lots of holidays for us.’

As the couple recalled their time on My Mum, Your Dad, Janey continued: ‘I definitely went in looking for love because I had exhausted all other options.’

‘I didn’t expect anything that did happen. It’s been one of the best surprised in my life I look at it and think Harry Potter is more believe than what has happened to me,’ Roger added.

Janey explained: ‘At first I was very anxious and suddenly when we made a connection I thought “I’ve found him now”. You felt as if you had found your person, it was like. “thank goodness”.

‘We go to the local shop now and people go ‘It’s you!’ Roger laughed.

Janey said: ‘The best thing is when people look at you and go ‘Oooo you’re still together!’ We’ve been together five or six moths now.’

After the final episode of the ITV show aired last month they have since shared glimpses into their long-distance relationship on social media.

Hosted by Davina McCall, My Mum, Your Dad put a spin on the traditional dating programmes as single-parents looked for love with the help of their adult children.

Postman Roger lost his beloved wife Joanne, 52, to cancer 18 months ago and signed up to the new ITV1 dating show in a bid to move on.

Taking to Instagram, Roger revealed he had done just that, admitting it had been hard to ‘keep it a secret’ alongside adorable photographs of himself with recruitment manager Janey, while she happily posted a saucy snap of them in bed together.

Roger’s daughter Jess, 28, also shared an update of her father’s relationship status as she and her sister Alex posed with Janey, and penned: ‘Welcome to the family Janey. Prewarning, we’re crazy.’

Janey confirmed the news too, sharing a selection of sweet pictures of herself and Roger, including one of them in bed together which she captioned: ‘What an amazing journey… Saturday mornings just got a whole lot better.’

Her son, Will, 19, also took to Instagram to share the happy news that the couple were still going strong, posting pictures of himself and Roger in the pub together and playing golf.

Since then, in between TV appearances, including a visit to ITV’s Good Morning Britain, the couple have kept their new social media followers updated on their romance.

Roger – who lives in Derbyshire – and Janey – who lives in West Sussex – are moving ahead with a long-distance relationship.
