The family of a 13-year-old who vanished from his home more than six weeks ago has offered a $10,000 reward for information to ensure his safe return.

James Yoblonski was last seen at the family residence in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, on June 11 by his father William Yoblonski, who believes his son took the family’s Chrysler van to live off-grid at Devil’s Lake State Park.

James reportedly also took his father’s firearm along with two survival guide books, according to News 3

Mr Yoblonski said he will mortgage their home in a desperate appeal for any information to help bring his son back.

‘The $10,000 reward is only if he’s found. In the last three weeks, we haven’t gotten any tips or anything,’ he told WiscNews earlier this week.

Sauk County Sheriff Lt. Steven Schram said that after using police search dogs, a makeshift campsite was found near Baraboo and Devil’s Lake State Park on both sides of Highway 12. A second campsite was also found, according to News 3.

The family’s vehicle was then found abandoned just off the highway. His cell phone was also located 200 yards west of the van.

Tracking of the phone showed that James had left the family residence on Water Street in Reedsburg, driven through Wisconsin Dells, headed back toward Reedsburg, and then south toward Baraboo.

Investigators said they believe James could be attempting a survival mission and wants to see how long he can live in the wilderness.

After no further signs of James have been found since the spotting of the campsite, Mr Yoblonski said he believes someone may have picked up the boy.

In a heartbreaking address to his son, he said: ‘Come out from wherever you’re hiding. We want you home. We love you very much.’

Speaking to WKOW TV, he said: ‘He’s a smart kid. This is uncalled for, to do something like this and not to talk to anybody about it.

‘I bought some off grid books and come to find out he’s got one of those with him too,’

The Sheriff’s office said: ‘The vehicle was located at approximately 8:46AM on Monday June 12 by a Sauk County Deputy.

‘A ping of James cellular phone, conducted by the Sheriffs Office with assistance from Division of Criminal Investigation, led to the location currently being searched by Law Enforcement, near USH 12 and the Sauk hill.

‘Deputies located a makeshift campsite where property belonging to James was located. Law Enforcement is continuing to search the area and have asked for additional law enforcement agencies to assist.

‘If you have any information regarding this case, you are encouraged to contact the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office at 608-355-4495, or Sauk County Crime Stoppers @ 1-888-TIP-SAUK (1-888-847-7285).’
