Real Housewives of Miami star Guerdy Abraira, 45, revealed she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

She shared the devastating news on Instagram, posting a lengthy note alongside a gorgeous photo of herself.

‘I was in St Barts having the time of my life when my doctor called me with results following a regular mammogram checkup. I have breast cancer,’ her post began.

‘It took me a while to process it all and this is why I took a break from social media last month as many noticed. Many of you reached out to check on me and I am thankful for your caring gestures.’

She revealed that she will undergo surgery and then begin her treatment plan. ‘This process is definitely intense and what I ask of you is empowerment not pity,’ the Bravolebrity wrote.

The reality television personality then invoked her trademark phrase: guerdyfy. She uses the word to describe the events, weddings and parties that she plans through her company Guerdy Design.

‘I will guerdyfy this cancer as I guerdyfy everything else in my life,’ she wrote.

‘I am lucky that this breast cancer was discovered at an early stage – it is still scary of course, but I have love and support from those around me and that alone is the fuel that I need,’ she continued.

And she added a plea to her fans to take their health seriously.

‘For those who do not get health checks regularly, I urge you to. Your life depends on it.’

Abraira shares two sons, Miles, 14, and Liam, 9 with her high school sweetheart and husband of more than 20 years, Russell Abraira.

Guerdy’s RHOM cast mates were quick to offer their good wishes with Larsa Pippen writing, ‘Praying for you’ and Dr. Nicole Martin commenting, ‘You got this girl… We got this.’

The news comes after she helped her RHOM cast mate Julia Lemigova while her wife, tennis legend Martina Navratilova, fought throat and breast cancers.

Martina reveled that she is cancer free in March during an emotional interview with Piers Morgan.

She said the double diagnosis had terrified her, but confirmed that ‘as far as they know I’m cancer-free.’

She had previously beaten breast cancer in 2010, but said she feared she might not see Christmas 2023 after it returned.

‘Giving up, giving in, stopping – that’s just not an option for me. You get on with it. Quitting is just not in my DNA,’ Martina said.

WHAT IS BREAST CANCER?

Breast cancer is a disease in which cells in the breast grow out of control. There are different kinds of breast cancer. The kind of breast cancer depends on which cells in the breast turn into cancer.

Breast cancer can begin in different parts of the breast. A breast is made up of three main parts: lobules, ducts, and connective tissue. The lobules are the glands that produce milk. The ducts are tubes that carry milk to the nipple. The connective tissue (which consists of fibrous and fatty tissue) surrounds and holds everything together. Most breast cancers begin in the ducts or lobules.

Breast cancer can spread outside the breast through blood vessels and lymph vessels. When breast cancer spreads to other parts of the body, it is said to have metastasized.

The most common kinds of breast cancer are—

There are several other less common kinds of breast cancer, such as Paget’s disease, medullary, mucinous, and inflammatory breast cancer.

Ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) is a breast disease that may lead to invasive breast cancer. The cancer cells are only in the lining of the ducts, and have not spread to other tissues in the breast.
