Night skies across the world will be illuminated by a ‘Super Blue Moon‘ this week in a spectacle that marks the end of the month.

And the lunar event, set to take place on August 30 in Pisces, is not to be missed.

The term Blue Moon is the name given to the second full moon of a calendar month, which in itself is a rare occurrence – happening every two to three years.

But having a Blue Moon coincide with a Super Moon is even more spectacular.

A Super Moon takes place when a Full Moon nearly coincides with its perigee – the point in the orbit of the moon at which it is nearest to the Earth.

The two events coinciding on the same night only happens an average of once every 10 years, according to NASA, but the next will not be until 2037.

And, as a result, the rare phenomenon has given rise to a whole host of superstitions and rituals that are already spreading across the US.

From avoiding shopping sprees to closing the curtains, here FEMAIL has laid bare the dos and don’ts when the lunar light is at its peak.

Three of the biggest things to be aware of during a Super Blue Moon

Shima Chayvet, founder of Universal Healing Arts Center, is among those who took to TikTok to share her wisdom ahead of the lunar phenomenon.

She issued some stark warnings about ‘the rare cosmic event that holds deep spiritual significance.’

Shima, from Cortlandt Manor, New York, began: ‘Let’s talk about this big Super Blue Moon that’s going to happen on the 30th – there’s a lot of superstition around that.

‘You better close your curtains because if any of the light from that moon touches you when you’re sleeping, it will create lunacy.’

She continued: ‘Many people believe it is a great time for women to get pregnant so be careful if you don’t want that to happen.

And the expert concluded: ‘If you pick flowers during this moon, it brings beauty to the beholder.’

In the caption, she urged her 40,000 followers to once again ’embrace the energy’ that the phenomenon will bring.

Manifest at ‘lightning speed’ by burning bay leaves

Content creator Tyvonna Tennyson also shared how best to manifest during the upcoming cosmic event.

Speaking directly to camera, she revealed: ‘If you’re wanting to manifest at lightning speed, here is what you are needing to do.’

Tyvonna, who describes herself as an Earth Angel, then pulled out a packet of dried leaves and stated: ‘I’m going to need you to get some bay leaves.

‘It doesn’t matter how many you use but you’re going to write your desires, wishes and goals onto each bay leaf.

‘After you’ve done this, find a basin, jar or something that is fireproof. You’re going to need this because you are going to burn the bay leaves.’

She added: ‘While these bay leaves are burning, I want you to imagine you already have each and every one of the desires that you wrote onto the bay leaf.

‘Once they have completely burned into ashes, collect the remains and either bury them into your backyard or into a house plant.’

Tyvonna, who runs a website called Finding Fate, said that, alternatively, ‘you could find a nearby pond or lake and toss them into the moving water.’

‘While this is occurring, thank God and the universe in assisting you in achieving your goals. Then check your mailbox, bank account, email, voicemails for new money and new opportunities,’ she added.

What NOT to do this Super Blue Moon

Other TikTok users have taken a different approach and have instead set out the things to actively avoid during this week’s lunar event.

US-based Shika took to the platform with these words of advice: ‘Number one – do not ignore your dreams….

‘Dreams are telepathic channel messages for us to understand what our soul is going through.

‘So for this Full Moon, instead of wasting our time researching the meaning of it, focus on how the unseen is communicating something bigger. What is the bigger picture about the collective? What is the bigger picture about protecting myself and protecting Mother Earth?’

She continued: ‘Number two – do not go crazy on the news and do not watch thriller movies. You’re so sensitive [during a Super Blue Moon] and you absorb everything like a sponge so this is a great time to just skip that a little bit. Skip those series and horror movies.’

Shika’s things to avoid during this time

  1. Do not ignore your dreams
  2. Do not watch the news or thriller movies
  3. Do not go on a shopping spree
  4. Do not shut off your natural gifts

Next, Shika tackled: ‘This is a really human thing but don’t go on a shopping spree.

‘This Full Moon is all about letting go of things and changing your environment – that includes cleansing.

‘And when we go shopping, especially in a time where we are getting some much information from the astral space, a lot of us will try to cope in our materialistic human world by taking more things and buying things.

‘When we buy more things and create more stuff in our space, it makes it hard to receive the messages that we need to receive.

‘So this is just a time for us to not purchase a lot and this is also a really good time to learn how to self-soothe in a natural and more nourishing way that isn’t a coping mechanism or a way for you to bypass.’

She concluded: ‘Last, do not shut off your gifts… because this Full Moon is all about understanding that we are the creator of our reality and those who told us otherwise are going to go away and your gifts are going to just flourish.’

‘Ritual ideas’ will help ‘utilize the energy of the potent Super Full Moon’

Another TikToker, who refers to herself as Star Girl, let the overlaid text on her video do most of the talking.

She flooded followers with ‘ritual ideas’ for the upcoming Super Blue Moon on August 30.

These included a enjoying night swim under the full moon, shifting timelines using water magic, and setting intentions near an ocean or lake to supercharge manifestations.

Similarly, she suggested ‘channeling emotional epiphanies through writing music or poetry’ as well as using a shower to ‘visualize the washing away of unwanted energy.’

Star Girl, who claims to be a certified astrologer, added a caption that read: ‘The full moon in Pisces on Aug 30 is the most mystical full moon of the year.

‘Intuition, magic, and spiritual power will be heightened.

‘Utilize the energy of the potent Super Full Moon to supercharge manifestations, release what is holding you back, and embrace new opportunities.’
