President Joe Biden on Friday once again declined to acknowledge the grandchild who is the product of a relationship between son Hunter and Lunden Roberts, this time at an event celebrating a blockbuster achievement in women’s sports.
The president spoke about athletes in his own family while celebrating the NCAA Women’s basketball championship team from Louisiana State University, with the team and its star Angel Reese standing behind him.
He said ‘all the real athletes’ in his own family were women.
‘It’s really neat to see you, since I’ve got four granddaughters, where we had some pretty good athletes. I wasn’t a bad athlete. My brothers weren’t. All the real athletes in this family were women,’ he said.
Biden has seven grandchildren, five of whom are girls. The fifth, Navy Joan, is Hunter’s daughter. Hunter and her mother are engaged in a court fight over child support.

He has already been paying child support following a DNA test, but is arguing in court he has suffered a ‘substantial material change’ in his finances.
Roberts is a former stripper who won a reported $2.5 million settlement from Hunter after taking him to court in 2019. Their 2017 fling time together coincided with a time when Hunter has said he struggled with drugs and alcohol.
The remark came at an event that was interrupted when Sa’Myah Smith, a freshman on the team, fainted in the middle of Biden’s remarks.
‘She’s okay – happens lots of times,’ Biden reassured while a medic came to tend to the situation.

He and first lady Jill Biden gushed about the team and its star, after Jill Biden’s remark about inviting both LSU and its defeated rival Iowa caused an online spat with Reese.
The game scored nearly 10 million viewers.
‘We saw hope, we saw pride, we saw purpose,’ Biden said. He also joked with Reese and said she should play one-on-one at the White House with her cousin, Jordan Hawkins, a member of the winning men’s University of Connecticut team.
Biden also failed to acknowledge his seventh grandchild during ‘take your child to work’ day at the White House.
‘I have six grandchildren. And I’m crazy about them. And I speak to them every single day. Not a joke,’ he said.
