They discovered among infected people in the general community, about 40 percent were asymptomatic, as were 54 percent of infected pregnant women, 53 percent of infected air or cruise travellers, 48 percent of infected nursing home residents or staff and 30 percent of infected healthcare workers or hospitalised patients.

Gov.uk is urging Britons to take frequent lateral flow tests, which can be acquired for free from the NHS, to detect COVID-19 and stop the spread of the virus.

Gov.uk warns that “one in three people” do not display symptoms of the virus.

It adds: “Close contacts of people who test positive are at higher risk of getting COVID-19 and, with one in three people asymptomatic, daily testing will help ensure people are not unknowingly passing the virus on to others.”
