The US-born vocalist has had the likes of Sir Mick Jagger, Sir Elton John, and Diana Ross share their homage to Tina Turner.

Rolling Stones frontman Jagger said: “She was truly an enormously talented performer and singer.”

Sir Elton posted a picture to Instagram of himself with Turner, describing her as a “total legend on record and on stage”.

A spokesperson stated: “Tina Turner, the ‘Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll’ died peacefully [on Wednesday, May 24, 2023] after a long illness in her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland.”

While Turner topped the charts throughout the decades, her health has been less than top-notch.

Back in 1978, Turner was diagnosed with hypertension but, in an interview with the European Health Kidney Alliance, the star admitted: “I didn’t really try to control it.”

Having let her blood pressure run riot, Turner experienced a life-threatening stroke in 2013.

In her 2018 memoir, My Love Story, Turner described the moment the stroke stopped her legs from working.

“I couldn’t stand on my own,” she wrote. “I didn’t have the strength to get up.”

Turner added: “Terrified, I dragged myself over to a sofa, all the while thinking that I couldn’t imagine Tina Turner paralysed.

“I doubted that I would ever be able to wear high heels again, let alone dance in them.”

While Turner recovered from her stroke, in 2016 the singer was diagnosed with intestinal cancer.

Suffering from unpleasant side effects from her initial treatment, the Proud Mary singer turned to homeopathic remedies which, on reflection, was a mistake.

“The consequences of my ignorance ended up being a matter of life and death,” she penned.

Turner suffered from total kidney failure, so her husband Erwin donated his own kidney for his wife.

While the operation that took place in April 2017 was largely a success, Turner still experienced nausea and dizziness.

In an interview with the European Kidney Health Alliance, she said: “I kept feeling nauseous and dizzy, forgot things, and was scared a lot.

“I am on multiple prescriptions and take great care to follow my doctors’ orders meticulously.”
