On March 16th, Miya Granatella posted a photo of her leg in a cast on Instagram. The post was captioned with the following: “I was told I had blood clots in my legs but I’m still here.” She went on to say that she would be back later and, then later still, gave an update: “I’m sorry if I’ve upset anyone.”
On March 17th at 5 a.m., Granatella was found dead by her roommate—who called 911 when she noticed something wrong with the model’s condition (she had been dead for hours).
According to news reports from that day citing police sources close to the case, medical examiners found no evidence of foul play or suicide attempts on Granatella’s part; however, they did note there were signs indicating possible health problems such as hypertension or internal bleeding due to anemia caused by someone having too much iron in their system (iron deficiency can cause hemorrhaging).
