Melissa Suffield has issued a health update after undergoing an ‘unremarkable endoscopy’ for her mystery illness and ‘drastic’ weight loss.

The former EastEnders star, 31, previously told how she has felt like ‘pure s**t’ and nauseous for three months, with doctor’s struggling to find the cause.

Melissa, who played Lucy Beale in the BBC soap of six years until 2010, explained she has now been referred to a specialist, who will run ‘various tests.’

The actress added her son River, four, has also suffered with random bouts of vomiting since December.

In a post to her Instagram Story, she wrote: ‘Went back to my GP today, to discuss the results of the unremarkable endoscopy.’

She continued: ‘I’ve now had a gastro referral, which will be able to look at my gallbladder, liver, stomach again, the whole shebang, all the various tests and possible diagnosis.

‘So if there’s an issue there, they’ll be best placed to find it. River also has a referral to paediatrics as he has had random bouts of vomiting with no clear cause, as well as on off diarrhoea since we both got sick in December. Whatever is still doing a number on me, is definitely still doing a (lesser) number on him too.

‘The gastro waiting list is super long, so hoping I find some lasting relief in the meantime. Feeling positive about the TCM/ acupuncture route, coupled with the visceral therapy, and I’m also hoping to start hypnotherapy to bridge the gap until my talking therapies appointment date arrives.

‘I’m pretty sure this is not all down to anxiety, but constantly thinking about it definitely isn’t helping, and it’s not at all like me. So let’s sort it.

‘Also had an ultrasound of my neck ordered, just to give the thyroid a once over and check there isn’t any enlargement there etc. I think at this point he was just keen to get rid of me lol.

‘Sent off a breath test for SIBO today, and I’ve got a food intolerance and allergy blood test to do at some point as well.

‘So lots of stuff going on, lots of positive steps, hopefully getting me closer to an answer. And if not an actual answer, then at least hopefully some longer lasting relief.

‘We’re supposed to be on holiday for Easter weekend, so I really want to make sure that can go ahead. As a 3, we really deserve it after all the illness and time spent apart. So that’s the next milestone I’m focused on.’

Sharing a selfie to her Story she later added: ‘I was doing so well then bam nausea. Hopefully this passes because I’m not onboard with this at all.’

Earlier this week, Melissa revealed that she’s lost an unhealthy amount of weight in a very short amount of time due to a mystery illness.

She shared her health woes with fans on Wednesday and told how she has felt like ‘pure s**t’ and nauseous for three months.

The actress shared two lingerie snaps for a before and after comparison showing off the significant weight loss and revealed how it had come about.

In a voiceover to the clip she said: ‘Do you want to know how I went from this to this in three months? No you really don’t. It’s been hell. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. And yet at least once a day I’ve been complimented on my weight loss.

‘I’ve been told how amazing I look and asked how I did it. So you want to know? I’ll tell you. For the record I’ve felt like pure s**t. I have been nauseous for three months now with no reason why.

‘I’ve spent over £1500 just on medications, supplements and tests. My mental health has taken an absolute beating.

‘I’ve been medically gaslit, I’ve had to fight to advocate for myself when I was so weak from barely eating and drinking and I’ve solo parented a four-year-old.

‘This is easily the worst I have felt in my entire life and definitely the least healthy I have ever been, but you don’t see that, you see weight loss and you applaud! Anyone who loses the amount of weight I’ve lost in the time frame that I’ve done it in has rarely gone about it in a healthy way.’

She captioned the post: ‘Some ✨thoughts✨.’
